Sony Playstation

The Sony Playstation 3 is the current offering from the company when it comes to gaming consoles. Like its two major competitors they have built a very good console that a lot of people really like. As a result the decision about which console to use is largely going to come down to your own personal tastes and what you intend to use it for.

The Playstation is Sony's entry into the video game console market and it is one in which they have been very successful. The original Playstation was launched in 1994 in order to take on Nintendos near dominance of the market. In this respect it proved to be very successful becoming the first console to sell over one hundred million units. The current version on the market is the Playstation three which a seventh generation console which was released in 2005 the same year as the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

There is a lot to like about the Sony Playstation, the biggest is that Blu-ray player. In fact one of the reasons that people like the product so much is that of the three that are available it is by far the best for things like watching movies. That being said it is a gaming console and that is something that it does very well. The games are all in high definition and the interface for them is very easy to use. We also like the fact that they offer free online gaming unlike some of their competitors. The Playstation is also by far the best looking of consoles on the market, not that this should be a major factor in the decision to buy one.

There is certainly a lot to like about the Sony Playstation but like all products it is not perfect. Our biggest issue is that it doesn't support Playstation 2 games so you will not be able to use your old games on it. The fact that there are also only two USB ports is a bit of a nuisance, as is the fact that there is no flash memory reader. One major issue for a lot of people is that the online gaming and media options are not nearly as large as they are for the Xbox.

Overall we really like the Playstation but that is also true of its two competitors as well. This is where things can get tricky if you are looking to buy one. All three companies offer excellent products so you are going to have to decide which factors are the most important to you in a console. We would say that the Playstation is best if you are planning to use your console to watch movies on a regular basis and if you don't play online on a regular basis. One of the most popular games is Call of Dut, which is a violent shooting game mostly about past or recent wars.
